Welcome to June.

It's been a long, wet, cold journey, but here we are in the summer months. And with that, we have a few things to say...

First of all, we know you're wondering about shares, and when they will start. We're still hoping to start around the 15th of June. That said, it has been unseasonably cold, which has not been especially helpful. Things are growing, but slowly. So just bear with us as we bear with Mother Nature. We will keep you all informed as things develop and you'll be the first to know when the first shares of the season are ready to be enjoyed.

For our Elgin-area members, when the shares do start, pick up will be at the Elgin Harvest Market, where we'll have a booth. The Market runs Thursdays from 10-4 starting June 2. If you cannot make it to the Market during those hours, let us know and we'll arrange for pick up at the farm later that day.

For our Chicago people, there have been some changes. Due to some circumstances beyond anyone's control, our original drop off location (Wicker Park Grace Church) is no longer available. We are in the process of setting up a new spot at Atomix coffee shop at Chicago and Damen, and will let you know when everything has been finalized. Pick up will be on Fridays, and Atomix is open until 8PM.

As we mentioned above, we will be selling at the Elgin Harvest Market this summer. The Market starts this Thursday, June 2, and runs through October. Hours are 10-4, except on the first Thursday of the month when the Market will run until 6. We hope to have a lot of nice extra produce to sell there. This year the A La Carte offerings will be available at the Market, which makes it easy for everyone. We will send out a letter to inform you about what we'll have available that week, and then you can wander by the Market at your leisure and get what you want. As I mentioned above, the Market does start this Thursday June 2, and runs from 10-6. We WILL be there, however we won't be selling any produce. So come by, say hi, take a business card, tell your friends. We're as local as you'll get!!

In other news, we have obtained nearly 3 more acres in Elgin, thanks to the nice people at Abiding Peace Lutheran Church in Elgin. The field is right next to the church, across the street from Meijer. This year we'll be using the land mostly to plant cover crop/green manure and flowers, and we'll use about 3/4 of an acre for vegetables. we're not planning on expanding our shares this season, hoping instead to concentrate on the 15 we started with this year. The vegetables and flowers grown on the church plot will be used at the Market. We're really excited about this opportunity and extremely grateful to the people at Abiding Peace for supporting us.

And that's about all the news we have. You will see a change in our newsletter as Trogg is hoping to blog more regularly about what's going on - so check out the blog! Also Like us on Facebook. We're there!
