Hi everyone and welcome to another week! It definitely doesn't feel like July, that’s for sure. While I know most people aren’t big fans of heat and humidity, we need them for many of our summer vegetables to ripen properly. Important share announcement! Thursday late afternoon and evening pick up will be at the Third Thursday Elgin Harvest Market at the Grand Victoria Casino from 4-7, NOT at the farm on Randall. We’re getting pretty settled into our share and market routine. Everyone seems to be picking up their food and as far as we can tell communication has been good. Remember to always let us know when issues come up, and we’ll do our best to resolve them. Communication is so important in what we do, for us and you, to keep things moving along. And I hope everyone is enjoying their shares. This I’ve said before, and I’ll say it again - we’re still open to people coming out to help with weeding and things like that at the Poplar Grove farm. We know it’s a distance for some of you, but you can stay for as little or as long as you like. Tuesday-Friday are the best days, and we’re working from 8-5 (usually). It’s a good way to work on your tan and strengthen arm muscles! Trust me, there’s plenty to do and our farm hands will love you forever! Also, it’s peach time!! We’re planning our first trip to Rendleman’s Orchard at the end of the month, and we’ll be getting you the info about prices and pre-ordering hopefully this week. Please note, we are not allowed to sell peaches at the Elgin Market this year, so all Elgin peaches must be pre-ordered. We are planning on two trips this summer, but orders fill up quickly! Orders can be for a bushel, half-bushel, or a peck. Our family typically winds up going through about 3 bushels, between eating, canning, and making jams.
