Fall is just a few days away, and it really looks and feels like it out there. The corn and beans surrounding our farm are turning brown, and even our crops are looking more fall-like. This time of year we slowly start to switch modes. We’re still harvesting our summer crops, but it’s time for fall planting and to start cleaning up and preparing for winter. We’re also canning like crazy, trying to save as much of this summer in jars as we can. This past Monday we made a presentation to the Kane County Agricultural Committee on the importance and needs of small farmers. The committee is moving to try and help small local farmers, and they called on us and our experience to help them understand where our needs as a group lie. And again, the big plug for our Autumnal Equinox Harvest Festival THIS Saturday September 21 starting at 4PM. This will be our LAST farm event for the year for non-shareholders, so take advantage of the opportunity and come on out to celebrate the harvest with us. And finally - sign up for next year’s shares has started! The form is up! Do it! Do it now! Sign up by Thanksgiving and get this year’s rates. And thanks to those of you who have signed up already. We really appreciate the support. Enjoy your weekend – the Autumnal Equinox, Bilbo Baggins’ Birthday, and Marcy and Trogg’s 14th Anniversary – so many reasons to celebrate! More in the newsletter |
