8/2/12 newsletter

Just so everyone knows, Wednesday saw Farmer Trogg back in the ER, this time for a kidney stone. He’s still having some trouble and we’re off to the Doctor to see if there’s anything we can do.

This week has seen a lot of preserving. We still have some peaches to work through, but we spent Sunday canning them (14 quarts), making jam (8 half pints), and drying them in the dehydrator. Hopefully we’ll get some beets pickled and tomatoes canned this weekend. It’s hot work, but so worth it when winter comes.

On Wednesday we had the good fortune to have Tim Huth ofLotFotl farm come out and talk to us about weed control. This is yet another opportunity that being members of CRAFT has allowed us.

One last note – we have 2 EXTRA SHARES available this week. They’re $40 and on a first call/email basis. You can check out our list below to see what’s been packed this week. Pick up is at the home farm until 3 or at the Market from 4-8. So if you want in, let us know ASAP.
