Hello all, and welcome to the last full week of July. This summer is just flying by, but when it comes to amazing produce, we’re just getting started! Lots of wonderful things are starting to come out of the field - we ate our first summer squash last night! I know it’s been a long wait, and we appreciate everyone’s patience. The weather has been gorgeous and dry, and we’ve been getting a lot done out in the fields. The big news this week is that we are going to southern Illinois for peaches NEXT WEEKEND. You can (and should) pre-order if you want peaches this time. The peaches are freestone, and prices are $22/peck, $44/half bushel, $88/bushel. Please remember our prices are based on the grower’s prices. In more fruit news - and this one is for veggie shareholders only - we are super excited to announce the addition of summer fruit shares!! Yes! We have blueberries from our friends at Big Head Farm in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Also, our great friends at Grace Farm Studios are letting us in on their raspberries. That’s our big news around here. Otherwise, farm life continues to roll along. We’ve been working in the fields and gathering eggs and milking goats and just doing what we do. Remember to come visit us at our markets this week - Elgin on Thursday, Rockford on Friday, and Huntley AND Grace Farm Studios (where you can find amazing raspberries) on Saturday. We’ll also be officially opening out on-farm stand soon, but have pushed that off a little because of the late start with vegetables this year. |
