This week at Trogg's Hollow

Hi all, and welcome to week 4! Here we are, just about at the end of June already. As a kid, the 4th of July seemed so deep into summer, but now as an adult, and a farmer, it strikes me how early in the season it is. Working with the outdoors really makes you intensely aware of the seasons and their (usually) gradual progression. This summer, of course, seems like it’s been around for a while. Maybe it will start to rain and reset things a little, but I think we’re in for a long, hot, dry season.

On another note, we would like to thank everyone (again, and as always) who came out to our markets to say hi (and buy stuff too – that’s always nice). For those of you who may have not seen, we’re now doing the Elgin Harvest Market on Thursdays from 4-8 in the parking lot on Kimball, the Forest Park Farmer’s Market on Fridays from 3:30-7:30 at the Grove on Madison at Van Buren, and the Roselle Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from 8-12 in the American Legion parking lot on Maple.

Half share people, this is an even week, so that means you, Berwyn and Roselle, and some of Elgin. Remember to pick up by 8, and please return your bins.

And did you know that some folks believe that hanging a fresh leaf of Collard Greens over your door will keep bad spirits away? It certainly can’t hurt.
