Hi ho, everyone. Hope you've all been enjoying the nice weather and not been complaining about the heat. This is blissful, and when I get a little too warm I remind myself about 25 below zero and keep on going.

Things continue to be pretty active around here as we get everything in and get ready for shares to start in a few weeks. Many of you have asked about the share start date - SHARES WILL START THURSDAY, JUNE 19. As you all know, this is later than usual, but is due to the very cold winter and late start to Spring. We will send a separate letter to all shareholders with final details, but mark the date on your calendar. Communication is very important to us, so remember to check you email and read the newsletter to keep up on what is going on.

That being said, the final date for share and add-on sign ups will be SUNDAY, JUNE 15. We cannot accept any more sign ups after that date. So sign up! Tell your friends to sign up!. There’s still time to get in on a great summer of food!

Come see us at the Elgin Harvest Market on Thursday from 9-2 and the Huntley Farmers Market on Saturday from 8-1. We’ll have organic grains, dry beans and seedlings. Rockford people, the market has started and has lots of great stuff, but we won’t be there until after the 4th of July.

The next farm event is only a couple of weeks away -  our Summer Solstice Celebration on June 21. It’s a super fun event with food and music and I happen to know some super cool soap makers will be there.

Also coming up, on June 21 (yes, the same day as our Solstice Celebration) we’re going to be part of the University of Illinois Extension Winnebago Local Foods Initiative Openfields Farm Tour. Through this, people can participate in tours of area farms, learn about local foods, and meet the producers (and see first hand what kind of fun we have out here!). The tours run from 1-4, and more info can be found on the U of I’s Extension website.
