Hello all! I’m back. As you may have guessed, my regular person job has been kicking my butt over the last few weeks. Sometimes the balancing act can be tricky, but we make it work. The pace has been really picking up around here. Since I wrote last, we’ve seeded everything that needs seeding: beans, peas, beets, carrots, herbs, okra, lettuce, kale, turnips, and a bunch of other stuff I’m probably forgetting. But it’s alot. A whole lot. And then it rained like the dickens last night, which was great. And soon you’ll see the literal fruits of our labor. I can’t wait! This week we welcomed some more animal family members. Come by the farm and say hi to the goats Trouble and her two adorable 3 week old babies (yet to be named) and Dredger. We also acquired 15 new laying hens, and we’re always excited about chickens (especially the Easter Eggers!). I will be at the Rockford Discovery Center Museum this coming Saturday to help with a children’s program. Garden in a Glove, sponsored by the Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau, will run from 11-2. Kids can come and plant seeds and learn about germination. It’s a great museum in general, so come check it out. Also on Saturday, the whole family will be at Family Fringe Fun at Side Street Studio Arts in Elgin, which runs from 1-4. Come on out and be a part of the community and support the arts in Elgin! |
