4/25/13 Newsletter

So now that winter has ended it seems Mother Nature is trying to make up for last year’s drought. Don’t get me wrong, we’ll take all the rain we can get, for now, but it sure is holding up getting things in the field.  In fact, compared to last year, we are nearly 4 weeks behind.  Of course, there was nothing close to normal about last year.

Over the last week we’ve been fixing up the new (to us) tractor to get it ready for plowing.  It’s a 1958 Ford 841.  So, we have to make sure everything is running well before we stress it out in the field.

This coming week we’ll be in the field and preparing for our May Day Celebration.  By the time you all get here we should have greens and root crops seeded and well as a bunch transplanted.  Remember the May Day Celebration is also the new Meet and Greet for shareholders.

The May Day Celebration is next Saturday, May 4th from 3pm until whenever.  We are having a bunch of local producers here starting at 3 to talk about their stuff and maybe even sample and sell things.  Right now we have Naturally Naked Foods, Readers Apiaries, Pig Minds Brewery, Angelic Organics Learning Center, the Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training and of course Trogg’s Hollow.

Finally, we still have shares available.  Tell everyone you know!  Thanks.
