10/19/12 newsletter

Short and quick this week.  This was our first week without shares and without markets in 20 weeks.  It was weird.  However, we filled it with work.  We pulled and are still pulling all the summer crops.  We've rolled up all the drip line irrigation.  We have seeded cover crop on nearly all the field (and it's already sprouting thanks to the rain). The posts and supports have come down off of all the plants that needed them over the summer.

On the other side we have broccoli and cauliflower and cabbage (both types) looking beautiful for harvest in a couple - 3 weeks.  The late season lettuce and kale and chinese and mustard greens are doing well too.

While it has been difficult because of the dampness; our feet have been covered with an extra 3-5 inches of mud all week.  This rain and such has really helped the cover crop get started and get good growth on the winter crop.  At the same time, 5 of the 7 of us have been down with a bad cold this week.  That sure makes it harder to work in the field with the sneezing and coughing and then rainy and windy weather.

Okay, so enough for now.  Shareholders please remember the potluck this Sunday.  Also, if you haven't returned all your bins please do.  There will be more info nest week.  Fun exciting news as well as 2013 share info and winter share info.

Bye,
Trogg.
