Farmer Trogg's Wish List

This is a list of items that Farmer Trogg is in need of or would like to get to help the farm out.  We're putting it up here so if you see something on this list, you can let us know.  Most of these items are either better used or tons cheaper used.

This week or so at Trogg's Hollow

Hey there.

The last two weeks here have been fun.  We have all but finished our planting plan for the two properties that we are farming this year.  Trogg posted a jpg of the nearly finished church plan on Twitter.  The real file is huge and doesn't really fit on the screen.

Last weekend we went to listen to final presentation from brand new farmers who have taken the Stateline Farm Beginnings class at Angelic Organics Learning Center.  There were some really great ideas and, a couple brand new farms will be popping up in the northern Illinois/ southern Wisconsin area soon.  We can never have enough locally produced meat and vegetables, that's for sure.

We also were find some of the items on Farmer Trogg's wishlist.  Thanks to those that pointed us towards about 100 used T-posts on Craigslist.  Trogg was able to find a couple attachments for the two-wheel tractor.  We got a root digger plow (<-- there's a pic right over there), and we were able to find a used cultivator attachment.  Both are being shipped up from Kentucky as we write this.  We'll have more pics once they arrive.

And, thanks to Abiding Peace Lutheran Church, where we rent a couple of our acres, we have a new place to store our equipment.  They have allowed us to use one of the sheds on their property for storage.  Plus, if all goes well, we will be erecting a new moveable hoop house in the field out there as it gets warmer.  This will allow us to start summer plants (tomatoes) earlier and get earlier fruit, hopefully.  It also allows us to shelter the greens in heat of the summer and extend our winter plantings further into the end of the year.

Shares are just about sold out now, but please, keep telling people because we can expand a few extra if there is a need.  And on that note, if there is anyone interested in signing up for shares in the Hampshire area, North Aurora area or Sycamore area, please tell them to contact us.  We have a few families interested in signing up and setting up drop-offs in those areas.

We are still working on an info meeting in the Wheaton/Glen Ellyn area too.  If anyone is interested in coming to that please let us know.  We'll, hopefully, have something worked out soon and we'll be trying to get current shareholders to bring a friend or 6 with to get the word out.

Okay, so, finally, thanks to everyone who followed us on Twitter and liked us on Facebook and even did whatever on Google+ (we're still trying to figure that one out).  If you didn't, that's cool, but we really are going to start posting as much as possible.  Also, if you're into that whole new feed thing, here is the direct link to our news feed to get the updated news as fast as possible.

Bye for now,

Marcy and Trogg
